Committees

The Annual Conference Planning Committee provides input into the selection of the appropriate site for the Texas Center for the Judiciary’s Annual Conference as well as assists in planning the speakers, agenda and ancillary events for the conference.

The Appellate Judges Legislative Committee recommends and monitors legislation affecting the appellate courts of the state. When requested, the committee also provides and identifies resource persons for legislative hearings.

The  Bylaws Committee receives suggestions for and recommends changes to the section bylaws.

The Criminal Justice Legislative Committee recommends and monitors legislation affecting the criminal justice system. When requested, the committee also provides and identifies resource persons for legislative hearings.

The Judicial Ethics Committee receives requests for ethics opinions and issues opinions regarding ethics matters for judges.

The Juvenile Justice Committee recommends and monitors legislation affecting the juvenile justice system of the state. When requested, the committee also provides and identifies resource persons for legislative hearings.

The Judicial Lifetime Achievement Awards Committee solicits nominations for and selects a current or former Texas judge who is recognized by his or her peers as having a reputation for and commitment to judicial excellence, has achieved a significant length of service as a judge in Texas and has demonstrated a long term, consistent and significant contribution to the betterment of the judiciary, access to justice and the system of justice in Texas.

The Membership Committee shall implement streamlined processes for the collection of membership dues and design and implement procedures for membership drives to maintain and increase section membership and participation.

The Resolutions Committee solicits and presents to the Annual Meeting any resolution proposed by a member of the Section.

The Trial Judges Legislative Committee recommends and monitors legislation affecting the justice system of the state. When requested, the committee also provides and identifies resource persons for legislative hearings.

The  Website Committee reviews current content and makes recommendations for changes or additions to the section’s web site to maximize its service to the judiciary.
