2021 Nomination’s Committee Report

The nominations committee, chaired by Justice Gina Benavides, met on July 11th, 2021, to review nominations applications and make recommendations to fill upcoming vacancies on the Judicial Section Board of Directors. After careful consideration, the committee nominates the following Judges to be elected during the Judicial Section Annual Business Meeting, to serve on the section Board of Directors, for the terms and positions specified below. The date, time and format of the Judicial Section Annual Business meeting is currently pending.

Under the Judicial Section Bylaws, the current Chair Elect, Judge Elisabeth Earle, will automatically ascend to Chair of the section for the 2021-2022 year. Also according to the section Bylaws, after the Annual Business Meeting, the presiding chair will appoint the section’s Secretary/Treasurer to serve concurrently with her term for one year. The chair will also appoint a Presiding Judge and a Judge from the Center for the Judiciary to serve as ex officio liaisons.

The Nominations Committee for the State Bar of Texas Judicial Section is now accepting applications for the Board of Directors positions listed below. An application, letter of interest, and resume must be received no later than 5 p.m., May, 21, 2021, to be considered. You can download the application here, or in word format here
 
 
For more information about the section or to review the section bylaws, visit the Judicial Section website. You must be a member of the Judicial Section to hold a board position. You can join or renew your membership on your State Bar dues statement or online via your My Bar Page. If you renew your membership now, you will be a member throughout 2021-2022 bar year.

Current State Bar of Texas Judicial Section members may vote for their candidates of choice at the section’s annual membership meeting, which will be held in conjunction with the Annual Judicial Education Conference at Kalahari Resorts Texas, Round Rock, on September 21.
